I met a group of 4 American girls from West Virginia who were traveling together on the train. The 5 of us ended up doing a free walking tour of Paris the morning we got in. It was great, but looong - 4 hours to be exact! Between that and all of the stairs in my very hilly neighborhood I'm staying in I've easily been burning off all I've eaten. (There are 102 stairs in my train station!)
While on the walking tour with my new friends we were informed that the group that does the tour also puts on a bar crawl every night. 12 euros to do it, but amazing drink specials (for Paris and especially for the center of Paris where it was held) and entrance to a club that usually costs 20 euros.
And now a picture from the Musee d'Orsay looking back at Montemarte - you can see Sacre Coeur at the very top. I got to see my very favorite Monet at that museum today.
Tonight I pack, tomorrow I'm off to Brussels, Belgium! Au revoir Paris!

Wow.. I am literally crying right now... It's so bizaar remember standing in all those places. I miss it so much! I hope you ended up having a beautiful time!!! I can't wait to hear about the Musee d'Orsay, I didn't make it there... spent most of my time in Paris at the Louvre. I know I said I wouldn't go back to Paris if I went back to France but maybe I will... I could spend a week at the museums alone!!! :)
ReplyDeleteFrench food is the best food I've had in all my travels!!! (So Far) :) I'm happy you had a fruit tart... its funny... that is my most potent memory of the food there... I got one at a little bakery down from my hostel as well & it was unbelievable!!! You can't find ANYTHING like it here!
Happy you had traveling buddies- they sound great!
Hope you had a better experience w/the French Folk as your stay went on...
Oh my gosh. I totally miss Paris. It was probably my favorite place in Europe. Joseph and I stood at the exact same place on Sacre Coeur, except at night. We had aglass of wine at a little bar where you can stick whatever peice of paper on the wall and had dinner right in the plaza that Picasso & Van Gogh painted. *Sigh* :) So glad you're lovin' it.
